Dahabshiil Story
Dahabshiil was founded by Mohamed Saed Duale in 1970. Mohamed and his family set up a new remittance venture supported by an international network of business associates and agents to enable migrants to send money to family members and friends in the Horn of Africa.
Growing from just one location in 1970, forty years on, Dahabshiil employs more than 2,000 people across the world. The business has zero debt and is committed to giving back to the communities it serves.
Fast-growing network
Dahabshiil has one of the fastest-growing agent and branch networks in the money transfer industry. The company has expanded its network of agents in both the payout locations in Africa and sending locations in Europe, North America and Asia. Today more than 24,000 worldwide outlets provide services for its customers.
As part of the company’s growth strategy, it has entered into many tie-up agreements with strategic partners in Europe, North America, Asia and Africa. The aim is to ensure that Dahabshiil offers its services in every town or city across the globe.
In the payout locations, Dahabshiil has set up branches and agents in some of the remotest areas in each region to help its customers in remote places stay connected with family members. The strength of this extensive network, particularly in the Horn of Africa, is such that local people in these locations and towns recognize it as an invaluable lifeline.
